Health Hacks

This is not a blog from a doctor. For best specific advice, just go to better place – webmd.com may be a good starting point. Your health is your responsibility. Just wanted to say few things from my side….

Here are few sayings that say a lot in just a sentence:

  • Those who eat natural food tend to die of natural death
  • If you laugh a lot, it will not stop you getting wrinkles on your face, but it sure will ensure that all the wrinkles are on the right place.

Things that helped me a lot:

  • Keep watch on numbers that you can get without any special testing or blood work – Weight, Blood pressure, Oxygen
  • Get your reports yearly and compare the numbers
  • Weight is a number that depends on inflow and outflow of calories. So, really weight control is not an issue. Here are few tips
    • Use substitution as your ally. If the same food gives you less calories and will fill up the same space in your stomach, it will reduce your weight
    • If you eat out a lot, get a book “Eat this not that”
    • We don’t have big gain weight overnight, so don’t expect to lose weight overnight
      • If you did gain weight in short period, it is time to get good medical help as soon as possible
    • Intermittent fasting will also help – as it gives time to the digestive system to work on the food
  • Few things about diabetes
    • Fasting diabetes only measures what you ate and what your system did with it during a single night. For better understanding get report called A1C
    • If you can refrain from eating sweets before 2 hours of your sleeping time, it will help big time in long term
    • Any naturally bitter substance – Neem tablet, Bitter Gourd juice – taken in the morning will help in long run.
  • Few things about cholesterol
    • Good cholesterol has direct relation to exercise, so no short cut for that ☹
    • Bad cholesterol has a genetic component to it, so don’t lose sleep over things that you cannot control
    • If you did a bit of cardio, your blood will move faster and so, the bad things will have less chance to stick to a single place in your veins (at least that is my understanding)
